Applications are invited for the Christopher Moyes Memorial Foundation Studentship to support a suitably qualified postgraduate student for a three year PhD programme of research in Geography at Durham University, UK. The Studentship is to support research of high academic quality that helps to build resilience to hazards and risks challenging human societies, particularly in the global south.
One Christopher Moyes Memorial Foundation Studentship is available, starting in the academic year 2019-20, funded by the Christopher Moyes Memorial Foundation
( http://www.moyesfoundation.org ). The Foundation was established in memory of Mr Christopher Moyes, OBE.
Applicants, who may be of any nationality, must possess a First or Upper Second Class degree, or equivalent in a relevant field of study. Applicants must demonstrate outstanding potential to undertake research at the highest level. They should also demonstrate capacity and motivation to conduct research with strong potential to make a difference in society, especially for relatively low income populations in the Global South, in accordance with the aims of the Christopher Moyes Memorial Foundation.
The successful candidate will register for a full-time PhD in the Geography Department at Durham University. The 3-year Studentship covers Durham University tuition fees, a maintenance stipend to cover living costs and Middle Common Room (Postgraduate) membership fees for a College. The Studentship will also include a separate element for costs of work in the field or laboratory work.
Applications will be considered from overseas students from outside the EU or within the EU.
