The School of Psychology and Clinical Language Sciences at the University of Reading invites enquiries for PhD studentships for an October 2016 start; earlier start dates (January; April) are possible dependent on funding source. The School has an international reputation for research, with groups working in and across the areas of Language, Development & Ageing; Perception, Cognition, & Nutrition; and Psychopathology & Affective Neuroscience. Our research is underpinned by expertise in child development, psychology over the lifespan, the neuroscience of health and disease, and the development of evidence-based interventions. We contribute to the following interdisciplinary Centres of Excellence in the University: (i) Literacy & Multilingualism, (ii) Cognition Research, (iii) Neuroscience & Neurodynamics. The School has a thriving research community of over 80 PhD students, as well as state-of-the-art research facilities including a dedicated Neuroscience Centre offering: fMRI, EEG, TMS etc. Our research has the active support of community volunteers, including our extensive Infant and Older Adults Panels and the Berkshire Autism Research Network, and our research clinics and units, including : Anxiety and Depression in Young People (AnDY) Research Unit; Charlie Waller Institute of Evidence- based Psychological Therapies (CWI); Speech and Language Therapy Clinic; Berkshire Memory and Cognition Research Centre (BMCRC).
The School is a partner in the highly prestigious ESRC-funded South East Doctoral Centre (SEDTC) which provides outstanding postgraduate training in the Social Sciences and access to ESRC funded studentships. In addition to acess to University and Felix Trust funding, we have a strong track record of leveraging funding from other public, private and third sector sources.
We are currently inviting applications for an EPSRC-funded studentship in £D rendering and haptic robotics. This fully funded interdisciplinarey studentship (Fees and stipend) is open for UK applicants and EU applicants who meet UK Border Agency requirements for UK residency (i.e., UK primary residence for the 3 years prior to the start of the studentship (late September 2016).
