About the Project
Elisabeth Barratt Hacking leads a programme of research into the environmental dimension to children’s wellbeing focusing on the relationship between children and their local environment/ local community.
The goal of this programme is to explore
• how the environment and environmental experience influences the wellbeing of children and youth;
• how children’s local environment perspectives can be used by schools and local communities, for example, through place-based learning initiatives;
• the participation of children and youth in environmental research / action, specifically to do with local environment sustainability.
This programme seeks to develop innovative participatory methodologies for research with children (and teachers) in school settings and so contribute to the theory and practice of children as researchers.
