Prof Hongming Xu  Applications accepted all year round  Competition Funded PhD Project (Students Worldwide)

About the Project

Well supported by industry such as Jaguar Land Rover and Shell, the PhD student will be involved into one research area for any of these: in-cylinder flow, spray, combustion, emissions, engine operation control and novel/alternative fuels. The methodology to be use for the research will be either modelling or experimental, based on the state of the art testing facilities (among the bests in Europe) with OEM engine prototypes supplemented by the latest commercial software which enables research of the highest calibre in tandem with our industrial partners. The student will have a lot of opportunities to interact with JLR/Shell and several leading universities in the world. Funding Notes

For excellent applicants (very good first degree), there is the potential for funding for Home (UK) / EU students that will cover fees and a stipend of £14,400 un-taxed. Overseas students are welcome to apply but should note that they will be required to be either completely self-funding, or if awarded a scholarship, they should be able to pay for their living expenses.
