About the Project

Applications are invited for a PhD student to work in the field of cellular and molecular cardiac research in the Department of Physiology, University of Auckland. This PhD project will involve pre-clinical experimental research to investigate the molecular mechanisms of carbohydrate mishandling and cell death in diabetic heart failure. The successful candidate will join an active research group investigating the cellular and molecular mechanisms of heart failure. This project will also involve international collaboration.

Funding Notes

This study will contribute to a fully funded research proposal, and includes a PhD stipend of $25,000 per year for 3 years.

The preferred applicant will have an undergraduate background in cardiac/cardiovascular physiology and experience in molecular biology techniques such as western blot, PCR, enzymatic assays etc.
