The Cranfield Water Science Institute at Cranfield University, in partnership with Yorkshire Water, is looking for a highly motivated science, engineering or environmental science graduate to complete a one-year MSc by Research degree. The successful candidate will undertake a one-year programme of research based at Cranfield University leading to a professional Master of Technology qualification.

This project will look at a combination biological and advanced oxidation processes for treatment of chemical industry wastewater that are suitable to ensure delivery of high quality treated wastewater before it is released into the environment. The results will be used to develop an economic evaluation of the optimal option for treatment of this wastewater.

Project work will be based at Cranfield University by close interaction with Yorkshire Water Research and Innovation Team and frequent visits to Yorkshire Water sites is expected. Successful candidates will have an Engineering or Science degree with a sound understanding of process science, and ideally possess some knowledge of wastewater treatment and/or recalcitrant pollutants in the environment.


Entry requirements:
Applicants should have a first or upper second class UK honours degree or equivalent in a related discipline, such as Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering or Biological Science. The ideal candidate should have some understanding of wastewater treatment and/or recalcitrant pollutants in the environment. The candidate should be self-motivated, have good communication skills for regular interaction with other stakeholders, with an interest for industrial research.
