About the Project

Currently a massive amount of datasets in relation to medicine and healthcare are available. There is an increasing demand for effective and efficient methods to discover new knowledge and derive new insights into the data.

This research project aims to develop novel methods and algorithms for information mining from data resources available in public (e.g. UK healthcare data, national and local environmental data, among many others) or privately (e.g. accessible for use through our established research collaborations). The final goal is to make contribution to public interest (e.g. improvement of healthcare, rehabilitation, policy making) through research disseminations (academic research reports and publications, algorithms and software, patents, etc.)

Funding Notes

Applicants can apply for a Scholarship from the University of Sheffield but should note that competition for these Scholarships is highly competitive. it will be possible to make Scholarship applications from the Autumn with a strict deadline in late January/early February. Prospective candidates with background in Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Biomedical and Bioengineering, Physics and related disciplines, with good academic performance records in their undergraduate/postgraduate studies, are welcome to apply and encouraged to submit their research project proposals.
