About the Project

3 year fully funded physics /material science PhD based within industrial organisation as part of the exciting EU H2020 Spin-Nano international collaboration. The PhD will be awarded by Heriot-Watt University, Edinburgh, Scotland. Most of the experimental research will be performed nearby at world-class company, except for short international secondments and workshops. The successful applicant will be designing, fabricating and analysing optical microcavities for quantum device development and using the results of these to design and build new types of nanodeposition hardware.

Funding Notes

As this is a European Union funded Horizon 2020 position, applicants to be eligible must not have lived within the UK for previous 12 months and must have good undergraduate degree in physics or engineering and suitable skills including strong electronics / computing & automation interests.
