Dr Q Li  Applications accepted all year round  Funded PhD Project (Students Worldwide)

About the Project

Heavy ions of high speed play an important role in medical therapy, particularly for cancers. However, conventional accelerators to generate high speed ions are large in size and high in power consumption, which are not suitable to be installed in urban medical practises/centres. This project is to investigate compact and energy-effective superconducting accelerators. This project involves feasibility study of medical accelerators, analysis of superconducting accelerators, modelling and measurement. The PhD candidate will collaborate with colleagues from medical research groups.

A first degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering is required. Related degree programmes with a significant content in electrical/mechanical engineering will also be considered.

Funding Notes

Full Scholarship, including fees and stipend.
