About the Project

Health care and treatment are often based on clinical practice guidelines that provide recommendations for practice and further research. For the recommendations to be taken up into practice a plan for implementation is required. The tools suggested or used for implementing clinical practice guidelines in New Zealand have not been explored previously.

This thesis will also involve in-depth interviews with guideline developers, users and stakeholders to explore the experience of planning implementation including barriers and enablers.

This thesis will use a mixed approach of quantitative and qualitative work to explore the implementation of clinical practice guidelines in New Zealand.

Objectives:

1. Identify clinical practice guidelines in New Zealand
2. Identify clinical practice guidelines with implementation plans or tools
3. Identify the tools used
4. Conduct surveys/interviews with guideline users and stakeholders
5. Conduct surveys/interviews with guideline developers

Funding Notes

We are looking for the following applicants:

- Health professionals or those with a public health background
- Interested in implementation of new knowledge into clinical practice
