About the Project

This research project will examine questions of police effectiveness, legitimacy and public trust. You will apply data science techniques to analyse police operational data, crime statistics and social media usage.

Your research project will be coordinated by the Institute for Policy Research (IPR), with a supervisory team drawn from IPR, the Department of Psychology and the Institute for Mathematical Innovation (IMI).

The studentship is co-funded by the Police Foundation, the independent policing research institute. It is expected that the you will work closely with the Police Foundation in the formative and subsequent phases of the doctorate.


Funding Notes

The funding includes:

o a £14,296 (2016/17 rate) per-annum stipend
o Home/EU tuition fees
o an annual Training Support Grant
