About the Project

This project might suit applicants who have studied business as well as e.g. social psychology, or English language and literature. The economy and culture of the UK is changing in response to globalisation, and to Brexit in ways that are not yet understood. It is important that the UK remains active in international business as its benefits underpin sustainable growth and development of the regions. Entrepreneurs and the small firms they create are often the focus of policy initiatives but frequently studied through large-scale surveys and secondary data. In this project we intend to listen to and hear the voices of entrepreneurs, and what these changes mean to them in their lived experience. The research design is likely to involve qualitative methods and the analysis of talk including discourse analysis, conversation analysis, and content analysis.
