About the Project

Radical right parties has become highly topical in post-2000 academic research. This is hardly surprising given the growing saliency of migration-related issues in the political debate, but also because radical right parties have moved towards a position of increasing legitimacy and direct or indirect policy influence, reaching government level in several countries.

The academic literature on radical right parties is extensive, and growing fast. Nevertheless, there is a constant scope for further studies, not least given ongoing political developments across and beyond Europe. PhD project applications are therefore invited to comparative research in this area. The topic proposed is: A comparison between countries with successful radical right parties and non-success cases (Ireland, Luxembourg, Iceland, Spain, etc)

This is just one example of the sort of project that might be available in this research group. The precise project will be decided upon in consultation with the supervisor.

Funding Notes

This project is funded by a University of Aberdeen Elphinstone Scholarship. An Elphinstone Scholarship covers the cost of tuition fees, whether Home, EU or Overseas.

Selection will be made on the basis of academic merit.
