About the Project

Following the rise of environmental activism and the introduction of regulatory arrangements that acknowledged external stakeholders’ rights, external stakeholders have more say on a construction project. Many construction companies responded to the increased sustainability awareness and external pressures by accepting their corporate social responsibility and disclosing their companies’ approach to sustainability. Although construction projects have started to consider the economic, social and environmental impacts of construction projects in general, differing levels of corporate social responsibility coupled with conflicting interests of each stakeholder makes it difficult to achieve a high level of sustainability on the project.

This research project is interested in understanding how the different social responsibility stands of each stakeholder affect other stakeholders’ sustainability views and responsibility perceptions as well as the overall sustainability of the project. It is aimed to develop a sustainability diffusion model that displays the social responsibility dynamics on a construction project.
