About the Project

The School of Government and Public Policy at the University of Strathclyde invites applications for a fully funded PhD position in the field of comparative politics, studying the role of candidates in democratic elections across different elections and national and sub-national contexts. The student will be offered a supportive environment to develop his or her academic career including training in relevant research methods and transferable skills, opportunities to gain teaching experience, and access to an international research network of established academics and policymakers.

The successful candidate will join the School of Government and Public Policy, whose faculty have a distinguished track record of international research excellence, particularly in the areas of comparative politics, public policy, public opinion and representation. The School’s research is recognised internationally both for its academic excellence and for its relevance to policymakers. The School of Government and Public Policy was ranked 6th in the UK for research intensity in the last national assessment exercise (REF2014).


Funding Notes

Home/EU Tuition Fees and Stipend of £14,510 p.a.
International students are welcome to apply but must pay the difference between the EU and the International fee each year.

Entry requirements: BA (at least Upper Second Class) and MA (at least merit)
