About the Project

The Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt (PTB) is the National Metrology Institute of the Federal Republic of Germany with scientific and technical service tasks. It furthers progress and reliability in metrology for society, the economy and science.

Department 8.1, "Biomedical Magnetic Resonance", of the Berlin institute does research and development work in the field of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and spectroscopy (MRS). The department runs its own 3-tesla whole-body scanner and is a partner of the Berlin ultrahigh-field facility with its 7-tesla whole-body scanner

For a research project on MR spectroscopy, we are looking for a Doctoral candidate to join us as soon as possible. This position is available on the basis of a 3-year fixed-term contract. The remuneration will be paid in accordance with remuneration group E13 TVöD Bund (85 % for a doctoral candidate, 100 % for a post doc).

Your tasks:
- Sequence development for simultaneous multi-voxel MRS at 3 T and 7 T
- Collaborating in the implementation of new MRS sequences, performing in-vivo measurements in close cooperation with clinical research groups
- MRS data analysis with state-of-the-art tools complemented by own developments
- Preparing grant applications for extramural funding

You will be given the opportunity to develop your own topics within the scope of the group's research objectives.

Your profile:
- You have completed university studies (German "Diplom" or master's) of physics or a related subject of natural or engineering sciences with a very good degree.
- MRS and MRI skills would be an advantage.
- You have programming skills (e.g. Matlab, C++).
