Prof W C Hayes, Dr A T Russell  No more applications being accepted  Funded PhD Project (UK Students Only)

About the Project

A 48-month long PhD studentship is available in the field of organic synthesis and polymeric materials. The aim of the project is to investigate and develop new polymer-based reactive materials for the detection of toxic compounds. Candidates should have a good first degree in Chemistry. The studentship is funded by the Defence Science and Technology Laboratory (Dstl) and builds on an existing project at the University of Reading. The project will entail organic chemistry, polymer synthesis and characterisation, in conjunction with assessment of the detection capabilities of the new materials at the Dstl site at Porton Down.

Funding Notes

Applicants should hold or expect to gain a minimum of a 2:1 Bachelor Degree or equivalent in a Chemistry related subject. Due to restrictions on the funding this studentship is open to UK students.
