About the Project

As transcription initiation arises in a pervasive manner in eukaryotes, it is no longer considered as the central mechanism defining the composition of functional transcriptome. Other post-initiation events, including transcription termination, are now in spotlight as important regulatory mechanism for gene expression. Mechanisms of transcription termination still remain poorly understood at structural level and vary for each RNA polymerase. In this PhD project, we will reveal the architecture of NNS (Nrd1-Nab3-Sen1) termination complex that is used to terminate functional and stable non-coding RNA. The complex will be solved using integrative structural biology, involving cryo-EM,X-ray, and NMR technologies.

Applicants who wish to pursue a degree at the CEITEC PhD programme must hold the equivalent of a Master’s degree (MSc) in the same or similar field (four or five year undergraduate degree). The application can be submitted before obtaining the Master’s degree, however, the applicant should obtain the degree within five month after the application deadline.

All general enquiries should be directed to Olga Křížová ([Email Address Removed]). Scientific inquiries can be addressed to the supervisor ([Email Address Removed]).
