About the Project

Fraud management is an important task in business companies. It helps to prevent catastrophic loss, protect investors’ and customers’ interests, and ensure the company’s profit. In current E-business environment, Internet and mobile platforms bring millions of transactions and create huge volume of data every day, which dramatically increases the difficulty of fraud management using traditional methods. There is an urgent need for an integrated framework based on big data technology to analyse the large volume of business data and find out clues for fraud management. This project aims at proposing a big data analytics framework for fraud management, including the detection, response and prevention of potential frauds. It involves supporting technologies (e.g., data mining, business analytics) for analysing users’ behaviour and patterns, and business policies/procedures for fraud management and risk control. Its effectiveness and efficiency will also be tested by simulations and empirical study with operational data.
