Virtual Reality Based Training for Aviation – Data Analysis for Performance Evaluation

Since Facebook’s £2bn acquisition of the Oculus VR in 2014, the VR industry is booming with annual increase of over 75%. It’s essential and imminent to catch this opportunity to develop VR based training solutions to address challenges, particularly in high risk areas. This PhD project was then proposed timely and innovatively to provide a potential candidate a great opportunity and platform to achieve the goal. Supervised by academia in Bournemouth University, UK and with support from the industry partner Future Visual the PhD candidate will not only receive academic training (such as academic paper writing) to satisfy the research requirements of being a PhD, but also expose to real industry to meet its development need on solving real problems and challenges.

Candidates for funded PhD studentship must demonstrate outstanding qualities and be motivated to complete a PhD in 3 years.

Fully-funded studentship candidates must demonstrate outstanding academic potential with preferably a 1st class honours degree and/or a Master’s degree with distinction or equivalent Grade Point Average. An IELTS (Academic) score of 6.5 minimum (with a minimum 5.5 in each component) is essential for candidates for whom English is not their first language.
In addition to satisfying basic entry criteria, BU will look closely at the qualities, skills and background of each candidate and what they can bring to their chosen research project in order to ensure successful completion.
