About the Project

We are seeking a PhD student for our research program in experimental quantum science. Immediately available is a PhD scholarship for excellent candidates.

Our research focuses on the development and investigation of designer quantum systems using nano-engineered materials and optical resonators. We work with different material systems such as diamond and GaAs. Key research directions are nanoscale quantum sensing, many-body quantum dynamics in complex spin systems and studying strongly correlated states of light in the solid state. We are part of an Australian Research Council Centre of Excellence on Engineered Quantum Systems (EQuS).

We are looking for highly motivated self-driven individuals with a huge amount of curiosity, a strong interest in quantum physics and a good technical background. Experience working with lasers and some programming skills are a plus.

More details on our research group can be found at http://www.qmappmq.org

To apply please email a CV and a short motivation letter to [Email Address Removed]. Label the Subject of your email as "PhD Application".

Funding Notes

The scholarship covers the national/international fees (International: 32,000AUD/yr), and provides an annual stipend of ~25,000 AUD. The PhD provides approx 15,000 AUD for travel and research costs.
