About the Project

Project start date: 1 October 2017

Project description:

This is a non-funded PhD opportunity available at Swansea University’s College of Engineering and based in the Zienkiewicz Centre for Computational Engineering (ZCCE).

Telerobotics is a merging point of modem developments in robotics and communication technologies. Considering the wide application and potential impact, we propose to further explore the telerobotics system from different points of views in order to achieve optimal performance.

The aim of this project is to work on the adaptive telerobotic system, for which the optimal performance would be achieved by design of adaptive algorithms considering both factors of human neuromotor behaviours and network quality of service (QoS). Furthermore, more efficient visual and haptic information transmission protocol and recovery mechanism will be developed for better tele-control performance.

Eligibility:

Candidates must have a first, upper second class honours or a Master’s degree (with Merit) in a relevant discipline such as electrical and electronic engineering, mechanical engineering, computer science.

Programing skills with C language, Java, Python and MATLAB are required.

Funding Notes

Please note that this is an unfunded PhD project.
