Dr Marcello Ferrera  Applications accepted all year round  Competition Funded PhD Project (UK Students Only)

About the Project

The proposed project aims at the fabrication of nanophotonic components (e.g. modulators, routers, mode converters, NV-based single photon sources, etc.) exploiting alternative materials with the goal of mitigating intrinsic limitations of plasmonic devices (i.e. optical losses, CMOS incompatibility, lack of tunability, etc.).

The work plan also includes the characterization of the previously listed systems in index-near-zero environment for performance enhancement in both classic and quantum regime.

Funding Notes

All applicants must have or expect to have a 1st or 2:1 class MPhys, or equivalent degree
