About the Project
A PhD studentship, jointly funded by a Knowledge Economy Skills Scholarship (KESS) and Tenovus, is available as part of a collaboration between Dr. Edgar Hartsuiker, (NWCR Institute, School of Medical Science, Bangor University) and Prof. Andrea Brancale (School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences, Cardiff University).
The aim of this project is to screen for and develop novel nuclease inhibitors and to explore synthetic lethal interactions between these inhibitors and mutations in, or inhibitors against other DNA repair pathways involved in cancer drug resistance.
Applicants should have a first, upper second-class or MSc degree (or equivalent EU qualification) in pharmacology, chemistry, biology or a related life-science subject. The application should include a cover letter, CV and two reference letters. The application deadline is 15 September 2017. Successful candidates are expected to commence on or after October 2017.
The PhD studentship will provide the successful candidate with a stipend (starting at £14,553 per year, tax free) and graduate school fees.
