=About Insight Centre for Data Analytics=

The group you will join at Insight @ NUI Galway offers a stimulating, dynamic and multi-cultural research team with members (including 5 PhD students) from all over the world, excellent ties to research-groups worldwide, and close collaboration with industrial partners.

=The Position=
The cross-fertilisation and sharing of vital resources and datasets from different participants is a key benefit of data ecosystems, leading to business opportunities, easier access to knowledge and capital. The work will investigate new approaches to decentralised data management within a data ecosystem. The PhD candidate is expected to develop novel models for the indexing, discoverability and composition of entity-centric views across heterogenous data sources. The candidate is expected to ground the work in current state-of-the-art in entity data management, decentralised peer-to-peer data management, and define scientifically valid evaluation datasets and frameworks.

=Fellowship=
The PhD fellowship offers for the successful candidate an annual stipend of EUR18,000 tax-free plus course fees and conference travel when presenting. The position is open for both EU and Non-EU candidates.

=The Person=
The PhD candidate should have:
- Bachelor’s degree or Master’s Degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
- Excellent technical skills.
- Excellent communication and writing skills in English.
- Good knowledge of one or more of the following topics is a bonus: distributed ledgers, data management, distributed systems, peer-to-peer systems, decentralised systems, entity management, and relevant topics.

=How to Apply=
Applicants must be highly motivated with the ability for independent and critical thought. Successful applicants are expected to combine formal scientific work with research and development in collaborative projects funded by National and European funding agencies.

The student will be supervised by Dr. Edward Curry.
