About the Project

Students are invited to apply to the Sainsbury Studentships in Plant Science. Three academic supervisors from the universities of York (Prof Katherine Denby), Leeds (Dr Stefan Kepinski) and Bristol (Prof Claire Grierson) are currently recruiting for this studentship. Each academic will select their strongest candidate, who will compete against each other at interview, and then with Sainsbury undergraduate students, for one of up to three Sainsbury PhD Studentships.

Interviews will be held in London on 16 March 2018.

It would be expected that the studentship holder spend six months during their 3rd or 4th year at another university/institute to gain additional experience. Please note that students cannot apply to their home institution.

Funding Notes

This is an enhanced studentship fully funded for 4 years by the Gatsby Charitable Foundation and covers: (i) a generous stipend (tax-free) comparable to Wellcome Trust, (ii) research costs, and (iii) tuition fees.
