About the Project

Investigating the nature of first-person (or de se) thought. This PhD position is in association with the Leverhulme-funded International Network Project What’s So Special about First-Person Thought? The question to be investigated is: what is the correct theory of the content of first-person (or de se) thought and does the phenomenon of first-person thought necessitate a revision to traditional theories of attitudes?

The PhD position would be in association with the Leverhulme International Network Project What’s So Special about First-Person Thought? based at the University of Aberdeen and running until August 2019. The project creates a research network between seven institutions: University of Aberdeen, University of St Andrews, University of Oxford, University of Barcelona, Institut Jean Nicod-Paris,ConceptLab-Oslo, and Tufts University. The PhD student would have the opportunity to take part in research activities associated with the project including research visits, conferences, reading groups and more. Funding Notes

This project is funded by a University of Aberdeen Elphinstone Scholarship. An Elphinstone Scholarship covers the cost of tuition fees, whether Home, EU or Overseas.

Selection will be made on the basis of academic merit.
