Investigating the correct theory of the content of first-person (or de se) thought

Investigating the nature of first-person (or de se) thought. This PhD position is in association with the Leverhulme-funded International Network Project What’s So Special about First-Person Thought? The question to be investigated is: what is the correct theory of the content of first-person (or de se) thought and does the phenomenon of first-person thought necessitate a revision to traditional theories of attitudes?

The PhD position would be in association with the Leverhulme International Network Project What’s So Special about First-Person Thought? based at the University of Aberdeen and running until August 2019. The project creates a research network between seven institutions: University of Aberdeen, University of St Andrews, University of Oxford, University of Barcelona, Institut Jean Nicod-Paris,ConceptLab-Oslo, and Tufts University. The PhD student would have the opportunity to take part in research activities associated with the project including research visits, conferences, reading groups and more.
