About the Project

The Management research theme within the Centre is predicated on the position that the successful deployment of a new design capability in the future will require an understanding of a broader socio-economic context in which new functional materials will be created. Recent science policy has developed the notion of “responsible research and innovation”, to incorporate care of the future through a collective stewardship of science in the present. A framework for such stewardship has been developed in conjunction with the UK Research Councils. This exploratory social research PhD will involve the candidate working with an interdisciplinary group of chemists and computer scientists to integrate dimensions of responsible research into the new design capability for functional materials.

Qualifications: Masters-level qualification in a management-related disciple (programme must have included a research dissertation)

Funding Notes

The award is primarily available to students resident in the UK/EU and will pay full tuition fees and a maintenance grant for 3.5 years (£14,553 pa in 2017/18).

Non-EU nationals are not eligible for this position and applications from non-EU candidates will not be considered unless you have your own funding
