About the Project
The University of Lausanne is a higher teaching and research institution composed of seven faculties where approximately 14,300 students and nearly 3,900 collaborators, professors, and researchers work and study. Ideally situated along the lake of Geneva, near Lausanne’s city center, its campus brings together over 120 nationalities.
The Department of Strategy, Globalization and Society at HEC Lausanne solicits applications for a PhD position in Strategic Management and Sustainability.
JOB INFORMATION
- Starting date: August 1, 2018, or by agreement.
- Contract duration: The initial contract is 1 year. The contract can be renewed for 2 x 2 years. The maximum funding period is 5 years.
- Type of position: This is a fully funded position (100 percent).
- Salary: 65’000 CHF (first year) – 75’800 CHF (fifth year)
- Supervisor: Professor Jean-Philippe Bonardi
- Location: University of Lausanne, Faculty for Business and Economics, Internef Building. The research activities will be carried out in Lausanne, Switzerland, where the candidate should take residence.
YOUR QUALIFICATIONS
- A master’s degree in Management or Economics. Master’s degrees in other disciplines (such as International Studies, Political Science, Environmental Science, Communication Studies, etc.) will be considered as long as the candidate has a Bachelor’s degree, or any other university-level degree, in Management or Economics.
- Fluency in English.
- A passion for research.
- An interest in the following topics: Sustainability, reputation management, stakeholder management, private politics, NGOs, communication studies.
- Expertise in empirical research methods is essential, especially in quantitative approaches. The candidate should be comfortable with econometric and statistical methods.
- A willingness to complete a thesis in Management with an orientation in Strategy and Sustainability
YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
- 50% of the position’s time will be dedicated to the completion of doctoral studies. Some of the research projects will involve working with large datasets to look into how the media and repeated company-activist interactions can affect a company’s reputation. The successful candidate will work on projects with the supervisor and Dr. Estefania Amer (postdoc).
- 50% of the position’s time will be dedicated to providing administrative, teaching and research support for the supervisor and Dr. Estefania Amer.
