Treatment burden and its association with health-related quality of life (WHITTYU18SF2)

This is an exceptional opportunity for a highly motivated candidate with a background in health economics, an applied health field, or economics to study for a PhD at the Norwich Medical School, University of East Anglia (UEA).

The candidate will work closely with a multidisciplinary team of researchers with a shared interest in improving the lives of people with long-term health conditions. The aim of this PhD project is to enhance our understanding of treatment burden and its impact on health-related quality of life from the perspective of people with long-term conditions and their families.

The candidate will be based with other PhD students at the Health Economics Group, Norwich Medical School. The project will provide sound research training in a range of research methods such as semi-structured interviews/focus groups, preference elicitation (such as the Discrete Choice Experiment), patient-reported outcomes, questionnaire development and administration, and statistical or data analysis. An interest in health economics and health outcomes, and/or pharmacy and medicines use, and previous experience with the management or analysis of quantitative data sets would be an advantage.

Acceptable first degree: Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in a related field, such as a field related to health, allied health or medicine, pharmacy, or economics. Students who do not reach the minimum requirement of 2.1 in their Bachelor’s degree but who hold a relevant Masters Degree (such as in Health Economics) will be considered.
