About the Project

Project Outline:
Middlesbrough Institute of Modern Art (mima), part of Teesside University is moving forward with a civic agenda, in which it operates as a useful museum. Under this vision, the institution works as a crucial public space in a town with many social and economic issues. It brings a broad spectrum of people together through inclusive and accessible activity that is focused on making workshops, educational sessions and social events.
The aim of this research, is to examine the role of mima with socially excluded groups such as those living with dementia, to those from a refugee background, people with addiction and mental health issues.
