Dr C Hutchinson, Prof K Paterson  No more applications being accepted  Funded PhD Project (European/UK Students Only)

About the Project

Many people living with dementia experience concurrent visual impairment and this is likely to exacerbate the effects of the dementia and adversely affect an individual’s quality of life. Moreover, effects of visual impairment may masquerade as behaviours associated with dementia, including in clinical tests, and so produce misleading indications of memory loss or cognitive decline.

Applications are invited for a 3-year PhD studentship funded by the Alzheimer’s Society, the purpose of which is to better understand the impact of visual impairment on the everyday experience and quality of life of individuals with early stage dementia and identify key considerations in the care and diagnosis of individuals with concurrent visual impairment and dementia.

Applicants should have at least a primary degree (at 2.1. or above) in an area relevant to the Life Sciences (e.g. Psychology, Optometry, Orthoptics). The University of Leicester English language requirements apply where applicable.

In the funding section of the application, please state that you are applying for a studentship. In the proposal section, include the project title and the name of the project supervisors.
