About the Project

We research Artificial Intelligence (AI) for autonomy in service robots, meant to aid humans at work and at home. We strive to make autonomous robots a widespread technology, and become part of our everyday life. A great challenge for mobile robots is to interact, communicate, and collaborate with humans effectively.

In this project, we will look into automated reasoning and machine learning to let autonomous robots learn from, and adapt to, different users in different environments. We will explore several modalities of interaction (speech, gesture, kinesthetic teaching, etc.) with the goal of having the robot learn the most effective way to communicate, and actively gather knowledge or get help from humans in a natural way.

Where will I study?
