Improving action on unmet needs in Palliative Care: Developing and evaluating an implementation strategy to embed patient-centred outcome measures.

The student will join a dedicated team of clinicians and academics in the Wolfson Palliative Care Research Centre (WPCRC). The WPCRC is committed to developing research methods, and generating and translating knowledge into palliative care practice. It has an expanding theme of research around patient and caregiver outcomes, including in the longer term, as well as pioneering research in implementation processes, strategies and frameworks in the palliative care context. This PhD will contribute to and connect these areas of expertise, providing the post holder with a unique opportunity for sound theoretical grounding and ‘real-world’ experience in implementation research.
This PhD scholarship offers the opportunity for to make a distinct contribution to palliative care knowledge and practice. The successful applicant will be supported to ensure that their research informs and impacts policy and practice. Full-time or part-time applications will be considered.

The student will be based in the new Allam Medical Building with excellent facilities, and at the heart of the University of Hull’s £28 million health campus. Scholarships may be held full or part time.

In order to qualify for this scholarship, you will require an undergraduate degree with at least a 2.1, or equivalent, in a relevant subject.
Applicants should be able to demonstrate an awareness of research in the fields of implementation science and knowledge mobilisation, as well as an appreciation of the personal and organisational challenges of palliative care (whether gained from a personal, clinical, or academic perspective).
