Dr Wesley Moran  No more applications being accepted  Funded PhD Project (European/UK Students Only)

About the Project

Applications are invited for one of 12 fully funded EPSRC PhD studentships in the area of Materials Science at the University of Huddersfield. Applicants should be of outstanding quality and exceptionally motivated.

Please note that there are more projects than funded studentships and therefore this is a competitive application process that will include an interview. After the interview the 12 most outstanding applicants will be offered a studentship.

This project will be in supervised by Dr Wesley Moran and will involve the synthesis of diaryliodonium salts that absorb light in the visible region. For example, diphenyliodonium salts absorb in the UV region at about 240 nm. Modifying the phenyl rings will lead to absorbances of >400 nm and these salts will be evaluated as photopolymerisation catalysts in a range of reactions. For further details, please contact Dr Moran [Email Address Removed].

Open to applicants who are UK citizens or EU citizens resident in the UK for at least 3 years. Applicants should hold, or expect to obtain, a First Class or Upper Second Class Honours degree or equivalent in Chemistry or a closed related subject.

• Provide a current detailed CV, identifying any research employment or experience and, where applicable, details of research conference presentations or publications
• Provide copies of transcripts and certificates of all relevant academic and/or any Professional qualifications
