DTC CS 8 - Visual Analytics of Financial Time Series

Financial data analysis is a challenging problem in financial market research (e.g. stock market prediction) as it depends not only on supply-and-demand but also changing market conditions. This project will investigate visual analytics, interactive pattern matching techniques and machine learning to support the understanding of the financial market – a growing area in Creative Economy in the UK. Your good mathematics and programming skills will drive the project in trend forecasting, traders experience capturing, the development of user decision models, comprehension of trading decisions, and therefore responsible trading.

Entry requirements

Candidates must have a minimum of an upper second class honours degree or equivalent in a relevant subject, or an appropriate Master’s degree (with Merit). Informal enquiries are welcome by emailing the project supervisor.

For candidates whose first language is not English, we require IELTS 6.5 (with 6.0 in each component) or equivalent. Please visit our website for a list of acceptable English language tests. We prefer candidates to have already met the English Language requirements at the point of application, although this is not a requirement.
