About the Project

"The aim of this PhD is to investigate how smart textiles and/or other wearables can be used to assist people who have had a stroke with their communication, rehabilitation, and/or reengagement in daily living activities and hobbies. There are many challenges associated with developing technology for stroke patients including the need to personalise solutions to each individuals’ needs; ensure that rehabilitation exercises are conducted safely and meaningfully; having clothing/wearables that are comfortable to wear, easy to put on, stylish, and intuitive to use both inside and outside of the home; and that take into account potential motor, language, cognitive, visual and emotive impairments.
