About the Project

GW4BioMed MRC are now recruiting a further 3 studentships in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Data Science.

The student will create a computational framework for the analysis of complex biomedical datasets, and develop and apply bespoke machine learning-based approaches that identify biomarker signatures in patient samples to predict the presence of life-threatening infections in individuals with cirrhosis of the liver.

The associated training programme has three strands: research skills; professional and career development skills; and opportunities to broaden horizons, which might include placements, research visits, public engagement internships and a mini-MD programme of bespoke clinical exposure. Events throughout the programme will develop researcher communities across the partnerships.

The partnership brings together the Universities of Bath, Bristol, Cardiff (lead) and Exeter to develop the next generation of biomedical researchers. Students will have access to the combined research strengths, training expertise and resources of the four research-intensive universities, with opportunities to participate in interdisciplinarity and ’team science’. Many of the PhD projects supported by the DTP will be co-supervised across at least two of the partner universities, allowing students to join existing and emerging research partnerships. The DTP already has 59 studentships over 3 cohorts.

Funding Notes

GW4BioMed MRC are now recruiting a further 3 studentships in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Data Science for a 2018 start aligned to the following themes;

Infection, Immunity and Repair.
Neuroscience and Mental Health.
Population Health.

These fully-funded studentships commence in October 2018 and are available in AI and Data Science related topics within a range of biomedical disciplines. The studentships provide funding for fees and stipend at the Research Councils UK (RCUK) rate, as well as other projects costs, and are available to UK and EU students*.
