About the Project

The Thomas group is investigating the host-guest chemistry of redox-active and/or photo-active, self-assembled macrocyclic structures. These systems have been shown to function as novel molecular devices, sensors, and even therapeutic leads. This project will develop this work, to produce supramolecular architectures that recognize biomolecular targets with high-affinity and selectivity and produce binding-induced optical or redox changes within the hosts.

Funding Notes

This is a self-funded project. The applicant should have or expect to gain at least an upper second class degree, or equivalent overseas qualification, in a relevant subject.

If you have the correct qualifications and access to your own funding, either from your home country or your own finances, your application to work with this supervisor will be considered.
