About the Project
Applications are welcome for a self-funded PhD at the School of Chemistry of the University of East Anglia to work in the research group of Dr María Paz Muñoz.
The PhD project aims to develop novel bimetallic catalytic systems using precious or other metals and investigate their activity in allene chemistry. Different combination of metals complexes will be employed to accomplish orthogonal, synergistic or dual catalysis first using known reactions in allene chemistry as benchmark reactions to test the improved activity of the dual versus the single catalyst systems, and then applying them to unprecedented systems towards the synthesis of complex structures in one synthetic operation.
Applicants must have at least a 2:1 in Chemistry or related discipline or a good Masters degree in Chemistry.
UK students, and others who are eligible for Research Council studentships, will be able to apply for ESRC funding to work on this topic. Please see https://www.uea.ac.uk/study/postgraduate/research-degrees/phds-and-studentships/doctoral-training-partnerships/senss-dtp-studentships for more information and contact Dr Muñoz if you are eligible.
