Dr F Luciani, Prof Scott Sisson  Applications accepted all year round

About the Project

An exciting opportunity is available at the University of New South Wales in a joint research project between the Viral Immunology Systems Program (VISP), Kirby Institute and the School of Mathematics and Statistics.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to undertake research on developing and applying cutting-edge statistical and computational models to learn the molecular pathways driving immune cells to a successful immune response against pathogens and cancer. This knowledge will inform novel immunotherapies for cancer and vaccines against significant pathogens affecting marginalised communities.

The successful candidate will be based within VISP at the Kirby Institute and work in very close collaboration with the School of Mathematics and Statistics

The project is open to talented students form quantitative disciplines and with background in computationally based disciplines – computer science, statistics, mathematics, bioinformatics, physics.

Applicants must meet the PhD entry requirements of UNSW Australia, must hold an Honours degree or a research Masters degree, and must have a final GPA score for their undergraduate or Masters studies of at least 90% in GPA.

Applicants should also demonstrate active research activity with evidence of scientific publications.
