Dr Deike Hesse, Prof GA Brockmann  No more applications being accepted  Funded PhD Project (Students Worldwide)

About the Project

Scientific research in the DFG-funded project “Mechanisms of Fat Deposition”, especially the investigation of the mechanism of a mutation in a candidate gene for fat deposition in mice by integrating classical breeding experiments, GMOs, sequence and expression analysis as well as bioinformatics and the verification by molecular analysis/cell culture experiments (different cell types, luciferase assays).

The results will be published in scientific peer-reviewed journals. In addition, experiments and results will be used for the qualification of the successful applicant (PhD thesis, promotion).

Requirements
Applicants should hold a MS degree in biology, biochemistry, agriculture, nutrition, bioinformatics or related subjects. The applicant should be experienced in cell culture and luciferase assays, experiences in molecular biology, genetics and statistics are an advantage. The successful candidate will be highly organized and motivated, have excellent written and verbal communications skills in English and be able to work in an international team.

Position
Faculty of Life Science - Albrecht Daniel Thaer-Institute of Agricultural and Horticultural Sciences, Division Breeding Biology and Molecular Genetics

PhD student position with 65 % part-time position for an anticipated time of 3 years (E 13 TV-L HU)
