The UCL Energy Institute delivers world-leading teaching, research and policy support in the fields of buildings, energy systems, people and energy, policy and law, smart energy and transport. These research themes are not mutually exclusive, and many researchers work across two or more themes, ensuring a truly interdisciplinary approach to energy research.

The UCL Energy Institute is part of The Bartlett School of Environment Energy and Resources (BSEER), along with the UCL Institute for Sustainable Resources, the UCL Institute for Environmental Design and Engineering and the UCL Institute for Sustainable Heritage.
The Bartlett School of Environment, Energy and Resources was formed in September 2014, and is home to the Faculty’s Institutes that specialise in Energy, Environment, Resources and Heritage, and the staff and students that work within and across its Institutes. The role of the School is to facilitate the Institutes and help them establish themselves and grow, enabling them to focus on and develop their academic direction and strategies.
The Wolfson School of Mechanical, Electrical and Manufacturing Engineering is one of the biggest engineering schools of its kind in the UK. We aim to provide international leadership in research and innovation and an unrivalled educational experience.
