The PhD Computer Science programme provides the opportunity to investigate and contribute with innovative solutions to state-of-the-art technologies, research and challenges in Computer Science. The Department of Computer Science is part of the larger School of Mathematical, Physical and Computational Sciences, which includes our world leading Department of Meteorology and several national research centres. We have an active community of about 40 PhD students.
We offer flexible modes of study designed to fit with your needs. Our PhD is available for study on a full-time basis over 3-4 years and part-time over 4-6 years. Both full-time and part-time variants are available for study in Reading or working away.
Our programme includes research topics such as advanced computing and programming paradigms (Parallel and Distributed Computing, Cloud and mobile computing), computational intelligence, machine learning, data mining, predictive analytics, big data and computer vision.
