Astrophysics (mass) PhD Projects, Programmes & Scholarships

We have 14 Astrophysics (mass) PhD Projects, Programmes & Scholarships

Discovering exoplanets around compositionally-diverse stars across the Milky Way by mitigating stellar signals

We invite applications from outstanding and highly motivated students for the Warwick Prize Scholarships in Astrophysics. The successful applicant will work with Dr Thomas Wilson within the Astronomy and Astrophysics group in the Department of Physics at the University of Warwick. Read more

The Sweet-Spot for Star Formation

CONTEXT. Star formation is one of the most fundamental processes regulating the evolution and appearance of the Universe, with implications for many diverse areas of astronomy. Read more

Exploring close binary stars: Using nonlinear time series analysis and machine learning for analysing stellar light curves.

These projects are open to students worldwide, but have no funding attached. Therefore, the successful applicant will be expected to fund tuition fees at the relevant level (home or international) and any applicable additional research costs. Read more

A long-term variability study of young stars: Periodicity, hot spots, accretion and early evolution at the time of planet formation

Young stars are variable due to the processes happening on the star and its protoplanetary disk at the time of planet formation. The star-disk connection holds the clues to several open questions including rotational evolution, the origin of our Solar System and the feasibility of habitable planets. Read more

Fully Funded PhD Program Opportunity

The Okinawa Institute of Science and Technology Graduate University (OIST), accredited in 2011 as a graduate university, is located in the beautiful subtropical island of Okinawa, Japan. Read more

Characterising the atmospheres of exoplanets with ground-based and JWST observations

We invite applications from outstanding and highly motivated students for the Warwick Prize Scholarships in Astrophysics. The successful applicant will work with Dr Siddharth Gandhi within the Astronomy and Astrophysics group in the Department of Physics at the University of Warwick. Read more

Star Formation Triggered by Colliding Interstellar Clouds

CONTEXT. Much of the interstellar gas in a galaxy like the Milky Way is in dense molecular clouds. When these clouds enter a spiral arm, they merge to form larger clouds, and are compressed to higher densities. Read more
