Molecular Biology (cancer biology) PhD Projects, Programmes & Scholarships

We have 115 Molecular Biology (cancer biology) PhD Projects, Programmes & Scholarships

Cancer biology: identification of new treatment options for EML4-ALK driven lung cancer through understanding mechanisms of cell division and migration.

Lung cancer is the largest cause of cancer-related deaths in the UK and worldwide. While little progress has been made in long-term survival rates, we now have a good understanding of the genetic drivers raising the prospect of earlier diagnosis and more effective treatments. Read more

Cancer: Understanding the immunosuppressive role of fibroblast and macrophages in Breast cancer

Oncolytic viruses (OVs) preferentially infect and kill cancer cells, and their clinical efficacy has been demonstrated against a number of different cancers. The most clinically advanced OV is a genetically engineered herpes simplex virus (T-VEC) which expresses GMCSF to aid the development of anti-tumour immune responses; T-VEC is approved for the treatment of metastatic melanoma. Experimental and computational Cancer PhD: Overcoming osteosarcoma chemoresistance by characterizing and targeting cellular quiescence

Cancer is the leading cause of death in children and the second in young adults in England and Wales. Sarcomas, tumours that originate from connective tissues (bone, muscle, fat), account for around 15% of childhood cancers. Read more
