AHRC Studentships with the London Arts & Humanities Doctoral Training Partnership

The London Arts and Humanities Partnership (AHRC Doctoral Training Partnership) is pleased to invite applications from outstanding candidates for AHRC-LAHP Doctoral Training Awards for 2016-17 entry. Up to 80 studentships are available for postgraduate research students studying arts and humanities disciplines at King's College London, School of Advanced Study (University of London) or University College London. Subject to eligibility, these awards will cover:

  • Tuition fees for a maximum of three years at the Home/EU rate.
  • Annual maintenance grant or allowance (stipend)

As part of its AHRC funding, LAHP offers a wide range of training and skills development opportunities and activities, some in partnership with major London cultural and business partners.

LAHP's training framework and studentship allocation mechanism is based around the AHRC's four interdisciplinary panel areas:

  • Panel A: History, Thought & Belief
  • Panel B: Creative & Performing Arts
  • anel C: Cultures & Heritage
  • Panel D: Languages & Literature

How to Apply

The LAHP studentship competition will open for applications on 1st December 2015

Before applying for a LAHP studentship you must have applied to commence a programme of postgraduate study in the 2016-17 academic year at one of the LAHP partner institutions. You are advised to apply for your place of study well in advance of the closing deadline for LAHP studentship applications to ensure that you have the opportunity to consult with your proposed supervisor in preparing the LAHP studentship application form. LAHP strongly recommends that you apply for your place of study before Friday 15th January 2016.

Academic qualifications and eligibility

Candidates should hold a first-class or a good upper-second class Honours degree or equivalent, and would normally be expected to hold a Master's degree.

LAHP studentships are open to UK and EU students who meet the residency requirements as detailed on page 11 of the cross-Research Council Terms and Conditions of Training Grants. EU students are eligible to apply for LAHP funding on exactly the same basis as UK students. LAHP expects to make full awards (fees and maintenance) to successful EU candidates in 2015.

Studentship competition timeline

  • Applications open on 1 December 2015: applications will be submitted via an online application portal available on the LAHP website
  • Recommended date by which to apply for a place of study: Friday 15th January 2016
  • Application deadline is Midnight (GMT) on 29 January 2016: in the interest of fairness, applications received after this deadline will not be considered.
