EPSRC Centre for Doctoral Training in Sustainable Chemical Technologies

Twelve fully-funded EPSRC studentships to start in October 2015

The EPSRC Centre for Doctoral Training (CDT) in Sustainable Chemical Technologies at the University of Bath runs a 4-year integrated PhD programme in Sustainable Chemical Technologies. We are offering fully-funded EPSRC studentships to start in September/October 2016. Apply soon as places have filled quickly in previous years.

Centre for Sustainable Chemical Technologies

There are additional places available under the Marie Curie FIRE programme for applicants who have not resided, or carried out their main activity (work or studies), in the UK for more than 12 months in the three years prior. Apply by 01 May 2016.

If accepted, you will have the opportunity to undertake challenging research, combined with training in scientific, societal and business aspects of sustainability. The CDT is based within the interdisciplinary Centre for Sustainable Chemical Technologies (CSCT).

We offer research projects covering a broad spectrum of chemical, biochemical and engineering sciences, relating to issues of sustainability, including:

  • Energy and Water - solar cells, fuel cells and batteries, sustainable water supply, water cycle & human health
  • Renewable Feedstocks and Industrial Biotechnology - biofuels, biopolymers, biorefineries, platform chemicals
  • Processes and Manufacturing - reaction engineering, sustainable integrated processes, process intensification, flow chemistry
  • Healthcare Technologies - synthetic methodology for pharmaceuticals, rapid sensing in hospital environments, infection detection, diagnostic nanomedicines

Entry requirements:

We invite applications from Science and Engineering graduates who have, or expect to obtain, a first or upper second class degree and have a strong interest in Sustainable Technologies.
