EPSRC Centre for Doctoral Training in Sustainable Chemical Technologies

Twelve fully-funded EPSRC studentships to start in October 2015

The EPSRC Centre for Doctoral Training (CDT) in Sustainable Chemical Technologies at the University of Bath runs a 4-year integrated PhD programme in Sustainable Chemical Technologies. We are offering fully-funded EPSRC studentships to start in September/October 2017. Apply soon as places have filled quickly in previous years.

Centre for Sustainable Chemical Technologies

If accepted, you will have the opportunity to undertake challenging research, combined with training in scientific, societal and business aspects of sustainability. The CDT is based within the interdisciplinary Centre for Sustainable Chemical Technologies (CSCT).

We offer research projects covering a broad spectrum of chemical, biochemical and engineering sciences, relating to issues of sustainability, including:

  • Energy and Water - solar cells, fuel cells and batteries, sustainable water supply, water cycle & human health
  • Renewable Feedstocks and Industrial Biotechnology - biofuels, biopolymers, biorefineries, platform chemicals
  • Processes and Manufacturing - reaction engineering, sustainable integrated processes, process intensification, flow chemistry
  • Healthcare Technologies - synthetic methodology for pharmaceuticals, rapid sensing in hospital environments, infection detection, diagnostic nanomedicines

Entry requirements:

We invite applications from Science and Engineering graduates who have, or expect to obtain, a first or upper second class degree and have a strong interest in Sustainable Technologies.

Deadline to be considered for the next round of interviews is Wednesday, 15 March 2017. Preliminary interview rounds are scheduled to take place in February and March. Apply early as the application process is quite competitive.

In addition to the studentships above, we are inviting applications for Fellows with Industrial Research Enhancement (FIRE) Studentships as part of Marie Sklodowska-Curie Research Fellowship Programme for Doctoral degrees. These are fully-funded, 3.5 year PhD Fellowships starting in April 2017. Applicants may be from anywhere in the world, but must not have resided, or carried out their main activity (work or studies), in the UK for more than 12 months in the 3 years prior.
