PhD Scholarships in the School of Energy, Geoscience, Infrastructure and Society (EGIS)

Full and part funded PhD scholarships are now available in the School of Energy, Geoscience, Infrastructure and Society at Heriot Watt University. The School undertakes high quality, high impact research in a range of diverse disciplines. Organised around four main research institutes, the School holds a strong position in the UK and internationally. We secure research funding from a wide array of sources including UK research councils, UK and devolved government departments, EU, industry, charities and professional bodies. We are delighted to announce the availability of a number of opportunities in the following four institutes for strong candidates to study towards a PhD:-

  • Institute for Infrastructure and Environment (IIE)
  • Centre of Excellence in Sustainable Building Design (CESBD)
  • Institute for Social Policy, Housing, Environment and Real Estate (I-SPHERE)
  • Institute of Petroleum Engineering (IPE)

PhD Scholarships in the School of Energy, Geoscience, Infrastructure and Society

Eligibility

To be eligible, applicants should have a first-class honours degree in a relevant subject or a 2.1 honours degree plus Masters (or equivalent). Additional criteria may apply so please check the specific project details before applying. Scholarships will be awarded by competitive merit, taking into account the academic ability of the applicant and the alignment between his/her research interests and the research strengths of the School.

Timetable

The closing date for applications is Monday 29th February 2016. Applications will be reviewed throughout March and applicants will be notified of the outcome of their application by the end of April 2016. Applicants MUST be available to start the course of study on 3rd October 2016.
