Research by Distance Learning

The College of Arts and Law at the University of Birmingham now offer MA by Research and PhD opportunities by distance learning across all subject areas.

Completing a research degree by distance learning allows you to access our world-renowned academic resources, wherever you are in the world. You will receive the same level of support and supervision as on-campus students, and even receive the same degree certificate. The only difference is that supervisory sessions will take place via audio-visual communication services, rather than in person.

For all subjects other than English Language, the course fee also includes a fully-funded visit to the University of Birmingham campus for each full year of the programme.

We also offer distance learning research bursaries of up to £3,000 – applications for these are now open, and close on Friday 22 April.
